The main window for DNS Query is very easy to use. You simply enter the address (or hostname) of the server that you want to query, the type of record to query, and the host name that you want to resolve. Click the <Go> button, and IDQ will take it from there.

The DNS results window contains the records that were reported by the DNS server that you queried. Here we see an example query for www.yahoo.com. You can see a CNAME record (CNAME stands for canonical name), as well as many A records. Given this example, you can see that yahoo's DNS records are fairly complex, and routed through a third party provider called akadns (probably used for load balancing).
